The Carnarvon Great Walk links the Carnarvon Gorge and Mount Moffatt sections of Carnarvon National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty and human history set within the highlands of the Central Queensland Sandstone Belt.
For those up for the challenge, the full circuit walk (87km advertised km, but its more like 100km with sidetracks included), is destined to become one of Queensland’s greatest walking experiences—a true adventure of a lifetime.

Day to Day Guide
Day 1 Arrive
Today you will arrive at the Carnarvon Gorge Breeze Big 4 AT 1pm. Flyers - you will arrive at the Roma Airport at 8:15am on the Rex Flight from Brisbane, you will need to book this yourself. Maree collecting you before commencing the scenic drive to Carnarvon Gorge. We will meet at 1pm for Lunch before exploring some shorter local walks for the afternoon that are not part of the great walk. We will spend the night at Carnarvon Gorge Breeze Big 4 which is included in the overall cost. This is a practice night in your tent with gear to make sure you've got everything before embarking on this Exciting Adventure. Flyers are welcome to leave motel bags in my car.
If you drive your car, your car will be left at Carnarvon Gorge visitor Car park for the week.

right beside the Carnarvon great walk means I’m in my backyard.
I’ve been hiking since 2013, (over 20 great walks) I’ve done Larapinta 240 kms end to end self-guided twice, 16 days was a favourite. Also loved Kokoda track PNG 96 kms. I’ve done the Carnarvon great walk 10 full times.

The food drop will lighten your load by 2 to 3 kg going up battleship Spur. Believe me, you're going to love me for this.

*Numerous hikers get lost on the Carnarvon Great Walk annually and must be rescued, be assured hiking with Maree and her other guide will keep you on track.
*FREE Roma 4455 Airport pick up and free Drop off to MIDTOWN MOTEL Roma 4455, on the day you finish your hike. (You book and pay for your own motel.)

WHAT TO BRING - everyone has their own fully equipped hiking pack.
PACK LIST TO TICK OFF!
We encourage you to keep your packs weight under 14kg in total for you to enjoy this hike. (yes we will weigh your pack)
Follow this pack list exactly and try and stay under 14kg in total. Hikers overpack due to Fear. Don't be scared and carry heavy weight, you have massive mountains to climb, stay light. Hikers that follow my 'lighterpack list brands' turn up with a pack weighing between 11kg and 13kg. Shop Smart and pack smart. However, we want everyone to have plentiful water for 8 hours hiking per day. Also the list has 600g food on it per day, its very important to know your body, if you need more food- please bring it.
HIRE A PACK FROM MAREE
Take the easy option and hire a pack from Maree, just bring your personal items.
The hire pack will include a Tent, Mattress, Full Kitchen, 58l to 65 L Pack.
Limited amount of packs for hire; first in best dressed. If you live within 700km radius of INJUNE 4454. I will get the pack delivered from 10 weeks to 5 months for training. (it'll depend on which hike you are booked into and are the packs all in use, how early i'm able to get to you.

DAY ONE OF THE GREAT WALK –
Flyers - You are welcome to leave motel bags and other unwanted gear on the hike in my car.
Drivers - Cars are parked and left at Carnarvon Gorge Vistior centre car park.
PRINT AND SIGN WAIVER, TERMS AND CONDITIONS AND THE MEDICAL FITNESS QUESTIONS. If sixty or over, please post a medical certificate from your Doctor/GP. Travel Insurance is recommended to take out on the day you make your booking in case unforeseen circumstances should occur.
Post back in the Australia post with a tracking number and ensure it reaches it destination.
